Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark broke her silence following an on-court incident that led to a suspension for Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas.

During a lengthy five-minute statement, Clark addressed several contributing factors to the ongoing league-wide conversation surrounding the two WNBA All-Stars. Clark addressed several factors related to the dialogue, including the criticism that Thomas has received following her suspension.

She was not happy with the media coverage and discourse, stating that she felt many were simply looking for a click rather than a fair dialogue. She also argued this was a distraction from the basketball product on the court.

Clark said that she felt that Thomas' foul was flagrant and that the referees and official must "do better" protecting their players. She also added for WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert: “We can treat the referees a little bit better: pay them like they’re full-time employees.”

She also added, though, that none of the "harassment" that Thomas has since faced is OK.

According to Clark, she will miss the Fever game against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday.

But she feels optimistic and hopeful that she could return next week when Indiana plays the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday or the rematch against the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday.
