Caitlin Clark debuted an exclusive pair of Nike Kobe 5 Protro sneakers inspired by her 2024 Rookie of the Year award during her 2025 WNBA season opener against the Chicago Sky.
Nearly a year later, Nike is set to release the shoes to the public later this month. Here's what to know about Clark's third edition of Kobe Bryant's signature shoes.
Nike recently unveiled pictures of the Kobe 5 Protro x Caitlin Clark "Rookie of the Year," along with the sneaker's release date.
The low-top silhouette features a metallic silver upper and university Red colorway, "polished off with a high-gloss finish that glistens under the spotlight," according to Nike's description of the shoe.
The shoes release on Wednesday, April 15, at 9 a.m. CT on the Nike SNKRS app and select retailers for $190. Both of Clark's previous Nike Kobe shoes to release sold out within minutes and currently go for $293 to $420 on StockX, an online sneaker marketplace.
The former Iowa women's basketball star signed an 8-year, $28 million endorsement deal with Nike in April 2024.
Clark is rarely seen without a pair of Kobe's when she steps on the court, and will likely continue to lace them up until her signature shoe with Nike releases later this year.
Clark told Travis and Jason Kelce on their podcast in December that her signature shoe will take inspiration from Kobe's, while featuring an updated look and feel.
"The technology that we're going to put into [Clark's shoe] isn't anything that they've ever put into a basketball shoe before, so I'm really excited about that," she said.
The 2026 WNBA season will begin Friday, May 8. Clark and the Indiana Fever tip off Saturday, May 9, against the Dallas Wings at noon CT.
Before the regular season begins, fans can first see Clark and the Fever in a preseason matchup against the New York Liberty on April 25.
