according to Gil Brandt, Cadillac ran a 4.4 and a 4.43 today. He had 19 reps at 5-11 and 217. He also caught the ball well in drills.

Ronnie Brown, 6-0 and 233, did 18 reps and had an 'official' time of 4.48. He was supposedly sensational in receiving drills.

Do you think Benson might be a bit worried now? All he's done is weigh in at 5-10 and 222. He's elected to postpone his workouts until his pro day.

The more I see of the combine the more I think any of the 3 would solve our rb whoas.
What I'm starting to think might be best is to grab db, Miller with the 8th pick. Sign Blaylock and then take whoever is available in the second round between Fason, Morency,or Barber.
How about Sproles ? THat little man benched 225 lbs 22 times. Thats incredible.

Senior bowl reports clearly indicated that Williams was in a class above and beyond the rest of the backs that attended. After the big three, I think the dropoff to the next group may be a bit steep. Not that anyone from the second group won't become a good NFL back - it's just that the top 3 seem to be closer to a sure thing.

Keep in mind those are excellent numbers for Caddy as he has added about 12 lbs since the senior bowl and putting on that much wieght in such a fast ime frame can wreck havoc on your speed becuase your body isnt used to it yet, yet the extra wieght hasnt hindered Caddy one bit. When he does his 40, cone and shuttle at his proday he will be more adjusted to his wieght and probably put up even better numbers.

Plus I love this kid's attitude. Participated in the Senior Bowl. Full workout at the combine. No known character issues.

Hey, it may be time to start the 'how about Cedric Benson with the 8th pick' debate. He may be the only one of the top 3 backs left.

Does anyone know if Caddy's 4.4 was the official time or a hand time?

Regardless, the added weight with the speed and quickness was a positive.

I agree with Rocco--

It is quite possible that both the Auburn backs could be long gone before #8

Brandt didn't say. Another site I just now visited had his time as a 4.5. The league could do a better job of getting an exact time IMO. Though in this case it doesn't really matter. He's 'plenty quick enough' as Bear Bryant used to say.

yup, a little bit. But all three of these guys run with some power. For his first two years with us, Jones didn't. Plus Williams has something else Jones doesn't have - terrific vision.

Does anyone know if there is a website that shows Williams or Brown's highlight reel? Kinda like the one posted earlier for DJ and Benson?

What's really interesting is Cadillac beat Brown both in the 40 and in the lifting. Brown figured to be better in receving drills but most people seemed to be expecting Brown to run faster and lift more and he didn't. So did Brown underperform, or did Cadillac outdo himself?

www.draftshowcase.com had something on Williams a week or two ago. It was a series of freeze frames on some of his runs. Looked pretty good.

See I think this was a case of rooting for the underdog, we all do it including the media. Brown was Williams Backup yet still highly touted, so people were rooting for him. I dont think people really believed that Brown would run faster they just wanted him to. There really was a reason why Williams was the starter and Brown was the backup

But to answer your other question, Brown didnt underperform at all he was at about where I thought he would be. Williams was also where I thought he would but that was before he gained he gained 12 lbs, so with that in mind Williams did out do himself.

The NFL Network is awesome.

Williams is the best back in the draft hands down, he's got something special as in great instincts to go with all the measurables.

There was a WR that was just stunning at 6'5" 245 blazing fast and smooth and catches very well, I forgot his name but he played 1AA ball.

We don't need him but he's going to be very good.

Darren Sproules is the middle rounds must have. He'd set us up for years at returner.

Ain't that the truth.
I'm upset that I have to work tomorrow and will miss the DB's workout.

blocking

Which of these three can block the best? I'm convinced thats why Emmit was named our starter before Shipp got hurt.. our back has to be able to block on passing downs until our O-Line stops leaking pass rushers.

One thing we cannot measure is "heart". Heart can sometimes make up for some of that lost speed so one need not always take the fastest guy. We do not want another Ricky Williams. Clearly the coaches know this and I would bet the fastest guy is not the first guy drafted.

Williams was the starter over Brown so the coach must have seen something during those years.
