Tuesday’s Game 5 matchup between the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks was a crucial one for both sides.

Of course, the Knicks were looking to clinch the series with a victory while the Pistons were trying to keep their season alive.

That is exactly what Detroit was able to do as the Pistons pulled out a hard-fought 106-103 victory to keep their championship hopes alive.

Detroit was able to stay with New York all night and they used a great third quarter to take the lead heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, the Pistons were able to do enough to grab the victory and they will now return home for Game 6 on Thursday night.

Cade Cunningham led the way for the Pistons on Tuesday night as he recorded 24 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in 37 minutes to help lead the Pistons to a crucial victory.

With this stat line, Cunningham added to his impressive playoff numbers and he also accomplished a rare feat that no other player has done since 1963.

In his first five career playoff games, Cunningham is averaging 25.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game, something that no player has done in their first five playoff games since Oscar Robertson did so in 1963 with the Cincinnati Royals.

In Robertson’s first five playoff games, he averaged 29.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 9.4 assists per game.

This is an impressive feat for Cunningham and that has been the theme of the season for the Pistons star point guard as he has blossomed into a superstar for the franchise.

Cunningham and the Pistons will now look to defend their home court in Game 6 on Thursday, which they were unable to do earlier in the series as the Knicks won both games.
