With the way we have played the last two games, I don't blame him for making these comments. But isn't there a fine line between, let's say, hinting at something and outright professing what's going to happen? Speaks volumes for someone who really hasn't even played much on one bum knee.

I wonder if this could add any bulletin material for the Suns even though they have been clearly dominated by the Lakers so far.

It's up to the Suns to shut him up. Win or go home.

Didnt T-Mac say effectively the same thing a few years ago?? Has he ever gotten past the 1st round of the playoffs??

Im with you in that he has all of the reasons to think this series is effectively over, but you dont need to give your opponent any (even small) opportunity to thoroughly embarrass yourself

Bynum's a dumb kid just like Amare. Unfortunately, he plays for a JUGGERNAUT so he can write checks his teammates can cash for him.

+1. However, after watching Boston dismantle the Magic through 3 games (I never saw that coming) he's likely to get more than he asked for.

Assuming that the Lakers do advance, is Bynum even going to play? He should have said, "I look forward to watching my teammates battle the Celtics, while I sit on the bench and whine about my knees."

If it is lakers and celtics, a celtics win would be such a smack to lakers fans. You can effectively put an asterisk next to the 2009 title.

Celtics fans can always say, "if garnett was healthy we would have won in 2009 too".

I wonder what the thought process is when Suns players are presented with a quote like that...

Nash: "We'll let our play on the court dictate what we think"
Hill: "Young kids have to learn when to talk and when not to..."

Stat: ..."Boston? I'm flying to Miami next week..."

Bynum on bad knees and fewer minutes can out-rebound and play more aggressively on offense than Amare.

BTW: Players on all teams should watch what they say. I'm sure they are coached on what NOT to say.

I was hoping Bynum's comments would light a fire in the Orlando Magic tonight, but sadly they continue to be horribly overmatchd by Boston.

Kinda sucks, but I think the kid is stating the obvious.

I hope the LAKERS come out tomorrow in gm 3 against us like it's game 1 against the CELTICS.....SUNS will send 'em home with a 2-game buttkicking and a 2-2 WCF.

Taking a deeper look exposes this story as a non-story.

http://articles.latimes.com/2010/may/22/sports/la-sp-lakers-20100523

Boston moved one step closer Saturday night, beating Orlando, 94-71, to take a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals.

And, a few hours earlier, Lakers center Andrew Bynum edged forward, although, in fairness, he was asked about the possibility of facing the Celtics, not volunteering to speculate.

"It's going to be amazing playing against those guys again," Bynum said after practice at the team's training facility in El Segundo. "Because we lost [in 2008], we're going to have a lot of fuel and a lot of ammo. They're definitely a great team. They have great veterans on their squad. . . . The first step is closing out Game 3, and then after that, we'll be focusing."

-----------------------------

Also in the article: Phil and Gasol dismissing the fans who chanted "We want Boston" during their home games. Both said their focus must be on the Suns first.

What does Stoudemire have to do with a Lakers/Celtics finals?

We're not at a Lakers/Celtics Finals yet. I know you were assuming in your comment, but there are still at least a couple of more games for an unhealthy Bynum to outshine a healthy Amare.

You must be desperate if you're knocking our big man when yours is STAT. :D

They're not related. I've written extensively on what a disappointment Stoudemire has been through the first two games. I evaluate each player on his own terms, not through artificial comparisons with others.

My contention is that Stoudemire is 6'10" and more athletic than Gasol, Bynum and Odom. He can easily take rebounds away from these guys.

No reason why he cant go 26 and 11 today, except for complacency

Precisely, his athletic ability alone should get him 6-7 boards a game. I have a feeling he'll play bad again.

sorry, defending him is just stupid BIM. Players always get asked what the next matchup's going to look like if they get up 2-0, but players with respect say the correct things like "I'm focussed on the task at hand" not the stuff Bynum said above.

The first step is closing out Game 3, and then after that, we'll be focusing."

And I think it's funny that you use this as evidence of something but conveniently cut it off when you do when he in fact says we'll be focusing... ON THE CELTICS... after Game 3. Unless they changed this to a best of 5 series and 3 wins is all it takes to win, this is another slap in the face.

Sorry BIM, it's okay to call your players disrespectful/stupid when they are and thaty's exactly what Bynum was in that interview.

Exactly... Charles Barkley was not big but willed himself to be a rebounding monster.

I already said it was stupid and that coaches likely tell players what NOT to say. I also think RealGM misrepresented HOW he said it. It's not like he was walking around sticking his chest out proclaiming "Golly, can't wait till we play the Celtics in the Finals." The L.A. Times article was more accurate so you could see the context. Still stupid, yes, but not "bulletin-board material" like the first article implied. Regardless, if you're a pro and you need something like that to motivate you - it says more about you than the fool who chose not to say "No comment."

Honestly, it's the WCF. You have a chance to play to go to the Finals. These opportunities don't come around too often especially for the aging veterans on the team.

If it's going to take a Bynum quote to get these guys fired up, then there's a larger underlying problem with the Suns.

He never said Celtics but he wasn't clear about focusing on game 3 and then game 4 either...this is where college might help some of these players. :D

As for going up 3-0 - - - No, it wouldn't technically be over, but the previous 93 times it has happened it has been over. 94 times if the Celtics can somehow manage to hang on and win their series against the Magic.

At some point, an NBA team will come back from 0-3 down. But if the Lakers win tonight, this will not be the time.
