Brandon Valley senior Alyvia Padgett was voted by readers at the 2025-26 Argus Leader girls Athlete of the Year.
Padgett won with 60.35% of the vote. Sioux Falls Roosevelt senior Kinsley Pesicka placed second, Harrisburg senior Gabi Zachariasen came in third, Sioux Falls Jefferson senior Macy Bryant finished fourth and Sioux Falls Christian senior Ellie Maddox came in fifth.
Padgett was one of the top scorers in South Dakota girls basketball and nearly led Brandon Valley to a perfect 2025-26 season.
The senior scored 26.1 points per game on over 60% from the field to go with 3.1 steals per night and 3.1 assists per contest. Padgett did most of it while working toward the rim, only attempting 50 3-pointers all season. Her ability to hunt out steals on the defensive end in Brandon Valley's full-court press allowed her to rack up points and assists in bunches, while the Lynx used it to build big leads.
Brandon Valley was 23-0 heading into the Class AA state championship game, but fell to O'Gorman for the third year in a row.
