INDIANAPOLIS — The state's flagship university will be making the trek up to play at Hinkle Fieldhouse for the first time in more than three decades.
Butler and Indiana announced Friday a home-and-home exhibition series set to begin Oct. 11 with the Bulldogs hosting the Hoosiers. Butler is expected to make a return trip in 2027-28.
This will be the first look at first-year coach Ronald Nored's team. The previously scheduled exhibition Butler had against Indiana State was moved to Oct. 18 to accommodate both competitions. Time and broadcast information will be announced at a later time.
IU holds the all-time series advantage 40-15. But the Bulldogs won a pair of games when the series started in February 1901, and Butler won IU's last trip to Hinkle 75-71 on Nov. 27, 1993. Travis Trice had 24 points and Jermaine Guice added 19. The IndyStar headline was "Trice 'n Guice put Indiana on ice."
The programs, and college sports entirely, look different from their last meeting. That came pre-COVID pandemic on Dec. 19, 2020, in the Crossroads Classic, a 68-60 win for the Hoosiers. Trayce Jackson-Davis had 21 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots while Armaan Franklin added 20 points.
Here's a look at each teams' schedules and rosters:
IU insider: Get to know the Indiana basketball roster: X-factor, most important player, key freshmen
(Big East schedule has yet to be released)
Sneak peek: Ronald Nored brings energy, point guard healthy: 4 observations from Butler basketball practice
Here are the announced games of next season's schedule.
