The Buffalo Bills created breathing room ahead of the new league year.

General manager Brandon Beane confirmed Tuesday that the team restructured right tackle Spencer Brown’s contract, a move expected to free approximately $10.44 million in 2026 salary cap space.

The Bills moved from 28th to 24th in the NFL in available cap space following Brown's restructure, according to Over The Cap. Buffalo is still projected to be about $2 million over the 2026 salary cap.

The NFL informed teams the 2026 cap is expected to fall between $301.2 million and $305.7 million, a jump of more than $20 million from 2025’s $279.2 million.

Brown signed a four-year, $72 million contract extension with the Bills in 2024 that runs through the 2028 season. He previously carried a cap figure of just over $19 million in 2026.

Restructures typically convert base salary into signing bonus, allowing teams to spread cap charges into future seasons while lowering the current-year number.

Brown, 27, has started 69 games since Buffalo selected him in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
