The Golden State Warriors, in the minds of many, once again have a team that has a real shot at winning the NBA championship for the first time in three years.
Jimmy Butler, the six-time All-Star veteran forward, has reopened their championship window and perhaps resurrected their dynasty ever since arriving in the Bay about three months ago in a blockbuster trade.
He has formed a friendship with guard Buddy Hield, who has become a key role player for Golden State this season. During an appearance on Bay Area radio station 95.7 The Game, Hield talked about his admiration for Butler, which pre-dates the trade that made Butler his teammate.
"I always loved Jimmy," Hield said. "... I just love the way he competes and the way he carries himself. ... He takes care of me."
During the first half of this season, the Warriors looked to be in slow decay. They were struggling to stay above .500, and there was too much pressure on Stephen Curry to carry them and keep them competitive.
Butler's arrival from the Miami Heat changed all that. He has given Golden State the true second star it has lacked ever since Klay Thompson suffered a knee injury during the 2019 NBA Finals.

With Butler by Curry's side, Golden State managed to brush aside the Houston Rockets in a hard-fought, low-scoring first-round playoff series that went the limit. Hield was huge in Game 7 of that series with 33 points on 12-of-15 overall shooting and 9-of-11 from 3-point range.
It will now face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference semifinals, and this matchup could shape up to be another grinder.
