The 2026 NFL Draft will take place in Pittsburgh next April, a city that could be where the Bucs select the next star they add to their roster in hopes of righting the proverbial ship. Before next April, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup for the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft. Thankfully, we now have some added context for players now that the scouting combine has come and gone.

NFL Media's Bucky Brooks recently released the latest 2026 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team focusing on defense once again. He has them drafting Tennessee's Jermod McCoy, who projects as some to be the top cornerback in the class despite his injury of a torn ACL in January of 2025. He missed the entire season, but his 2024 film is that good to have folks ignore that point.

Brooks explains the McCoy pick, writing, "Taking a flier on a cornerback who missed the entire 2025 season with a torn ACL is risky, but McCoy’s instincts, awareness and ball skills make it a worthwhile gamble for a team that needs to improve on the defensive side of the ball."

After the departure of Jamel Dean in free agency, the team needs someone who can be their new CB1. McCoy can be that and is someone who, at the very least, would serve as a safer CB2 option in a secondary that has had a facelift in recent years.
