Bryson DeChambeau needed 3 shots to get out of one bunker at Masters originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Bryson DeChambeau wouldn't have drawn up his start to the 2026 Masters Tournament like this.
And really, it all came to the peak of the nightmare on the par-4 11th at Augusta National in a bunker.
DeChambeau's second shot went right of the green, into a green-side bunker. That's when things got messy.
His first attempt to make it out of the bunker didn't get out.
He tried again. And again, he remained in the bunker.
Even the third shot barely trickled out of the bunker.
Eventually, DeChambeau settled for a triple-bogey 7.

It's painful to watch, too:

Considering DeChambeau spent most of the round at 3-over, this really was the big problem. He played pretty much even-par golf the rest of the way.
But because Bryson couldn't make it out of a bunker, he ended up having a rough opening round.
