Bryson DeChambeau holds meeting with LIV Golf players in Michigan after update from Scott O’Neil

LIV Golf players are still awaiting concrete news concerning the plans for the Team Championship later in the season, as well as the likelihood of new investors coming in.

Time seems to be running out for LIV to save itself. There are just three events remaining of this season, with the players in New York this week for the latest tournament.

But of course, there are serious doubts over whether the Team Championship will even take place at the end of the month.

Several LIV players recently expressed their belief that the Team Championship will be postponed.

LIV Golf is yet to make an announcement confirming the decision, but Kevin Kisner revealed that he had heard that organisers had not even begun to build the infrastructure required to host an event.

Cam Smith told the media on Tuesday that he is currently planning for the Team Championship to take place. But it seems that the players remain in the dark about what the immediate and long-term future looks like for LIV.

According to journalist David Rumsey, Scott O’Neil held a meeting with the players this week. It was Bryson DeChambeau who led proceedings once O’Neil had left.

And Rumsey noted that Richard Bland had revealed that players were still awaiting news on both the Team Championship and whether the league had found the investment required to continue running in 2027.

It was noted that the mood at the meeting was ‘positive’.

The rest of this LIV Golf season feels almost meaningless as doubts over the future remain​

It is so difficult to call what is going to happen next for LIV. The New York Post recently reported that O’Neil was on the verge of securing the $250 million investment he was looking for.

But clearly, huge changes are going to have to be made. The days of investing eye-watering sums in marquee names are most definitely over.

Meanwhile, those players who have time left on their contracts will surely have grounds to move on should they wish to.

Trying to make the relegation battle seem important in what remains of this season is going to be nearly impossible due to the fact that LIV may simply have to cling on to every single player willing to stick around.

LIV is continuing to stumble towards the finishing line this season. And more worryingly, the players seemingly still have little idea of what lies ahead beyond this year.
