Bryce Harper All-Star prediction would have Phillies fans irate originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Philadelphia Phillies are hosting the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, with every team's All-Star representatives coming to Philadelphia for the Midsummer Classic.
Of the Phillies' potential representatives, Brandon Marsh looks likely to make the All-Star team, while Kyle Schwarber should as well. Cristopher Sanchez might be the NL's starter, while Zack Wheeler and Jhoan Duran should be options as well.
However, what about Bryce Harper? While Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson look likely to make the All-Star team, Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer is predicting that Harper will be snubbed from the All-Star roster. If this actually happened, Phillies fans would be irate with MLB's decision.
Bryce Harper predicted to be snubbed for 2026 All-Star roster
Rymer's prediction has five Phillies making the All-Star team, with all but Harper of the six aforementioned All-Star candidates making it.
His prediction would have Freeman as the starting first baseman, while Olson is the backup first baseman. But there's no rule saying the All-Star roster can only have two first basemen. There's a way to put Harper on the roster if Olson and Freeman make it.
However, Rymer is predicting that William Contreras, Brice Turang, Hunter Goodman, Luis Arraez, JJ Wetherholt, Otto Lopez, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Corbin Carroll, James Wood, and Schwarber will be the reserves for the NL All-Stars.
While there needs to be one representative per-team for the All-Star roster, it would still frustrate Phillies fans to no end that Harper wouldn't be an All-Star this season.

He has 2.4 bWAR, 85 hits, 56 runs scored, 16 doubles, two triples, 20 homers, 57 RBIs, five stolen bases, 53 walks, a .274 batting average, and a .906 OPS that ranks fifth among all NL hitters this season.
He also has the ninth-best OPS+ (141) in the NL this season. He also hit for the cycle this season, and has been a big reason the Phillies climbed out of a 9-19 hole to return to just 2.5 games back in the NL East.
All of that, plus the hometown advantage of the All-Star Game happening in Philadelphia, would make it stunning if Harper is not an NL All-Star this season.
He's more than deserving of the honor, and Harper being left off the All-Star roster would likely make Phillies fans irate, and for good reason. There's no reason Harper shouldn't be an All-Star, as he's been one of the top-10 hitters in MLB this season.
