The Cleveland Browns have a contentious quarterback competition going on between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson, and as the season gets closer, it's only getting hotter.
Will Sanders get the start, the team's highly publicized second-year quarterback? Or, will it be Watson, who's coming back after an epic injury? Both players have a tough road ahead to prove that they not only deserve to be the starter this season but also for the future of this franchise.
Well, Watson is ready to go. Over the weekend, he took to social media to send a subtle message, or warning, to anyone who's doubting him and to his competition.
Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson sends fiery message amid training
Watson took to Instagram to share footage of him training for the season up ahead with the Browns. He looks absolutely on fire in the footage, healthy again and ready to rock. What he said in the message means something, too.
"Another day in the books. Great work. Got my dawgs Luke and KC out here," Watson says in the video clip. "Got a couple of young guys that are in college. Just wanna get that work in with us. You know, we just keep stacking for real. Every day counts. Every rep counts. Whatever we can do to stay ahead of everybody."
Then, he sends a message about overpowering the competition. Maybe that's the Browns' competition this season, or maybe it's Sanders.
"Keep stepping on everybody's necks man. That's the mentality we got to have this year. You feel me," Watson said in the clip. "So, we good. We're in a good space. Work always comes first. That's mandatory."
The comments section is filled with supportive comments, so Watson is getting comfortable ahead of what could be a crucial season for him. Now, it's time for him to step it up and prove to the bigwigs that he belongs as No. 1.
