As the Cleveland Browns narrow their list of candidates in their search for a new head coach, one candidate has helped them cut down the names. Former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has removed his name from consideration for the Browns' head coaching gig despite having a second interview scheduled for this week.

McDaniel is still in the running for the open vacancies with the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens after he was fired from the Dolphins. He has also interviewed for the offensive coordinator gig with the Los Angeles Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel informed the Browns he’s withdrawing from their head coaching search ahead of a scheduled in-person interview Wednesday, per sources.

For the Browns, this shortens their list of candidates to five names: internal hire and defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, former Ravens' offensive coordinator Todd Monken, Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski, Los Angeles Rams' passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, and Chargers' defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

This hiring cycle has drawn on for quite some time for the Browns, so let's hope it comes to an end soon.
