The Cleveland Browns and general manager Andrew Berry, after the first wave of the 2026 NFL Free Agency period, are still in the process of making multiple moves to revamp the roster this offseason.
After a brutal offensive stint during the 2025-26 season, Cleveland made it a priority to completely rebuild the offensive line before next season by signing guards Zion Johnson and Elgton Jenkins. In addition to the strong efforts in free agency, Berry and company also traded for Houston Texans tackle Tytus Howard earlier this year in hopes that he could be the answer on the right side of the line.
However, the Browns' aggressiveness in free agency did not address the wide receiver position, causing major concern amongst the fanbase. Cleveland holds the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which could be used to select a top-tier wide receiver, but outside of the draft, it was unclear how the front office would attack the position.
Luckily for fans, Berry’s patience this offseason has paid off, as the Browns have reportedly signed a former player under newly-hired head coach Todd Monken in Baltimore Ravens’ receiver/return specialist, Tylan Wallace.
As a speedy playmaker at Oklahoma State, Wallace would eventually become a fourth-round pick by the Ravens in the 2021 NFL Draft. While he struggled to find a role amongst a weak wide receiver corps in Baltimore, the dynamic weapon did manage to carve out a spot on offense during the 2024 season, finishing the year with 11 receptions for 193 yards and one touchdown in 17 games.
Despite showing flashes of promise for part of his career with the Ravens, Wallace’s primary role throughout his first four seasons in the NFL was on special teams as a return specialist for the team’s former head coach, John Harbaugh. Wallace ended his tenure in Baltimore with 12 punt returns for 194 yards and one touchdown, as well as eight kickoff returns for 188 yards.
Now, as the 26-year-old officially enters his fifth season in the NFL with the Browns, his terrific showing on special teams with the Ravens suggests that he will retain a similar role with Cleveland in 2026. Wallace also could be used on offense, as his speed with the ball in his hands could be perfect for Monken in jet sweeps or extending the field in the passing game.
