The Denver Broncos are adding "a different type of juice" to their offense in wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.
Waddle has impressive speed, but it's not just his ability to outrun defenders that stands out.
“There are two ways to separate," coach Sean Payton explained in late July. "You can run faster than everyone, and he has really good speed. Then if you can stop fast, and he’s able to match speed and then sink his hips. That is unique. That’s why you see coverage that ends up being it looks like three yards off because there’s that threat of speed. Then his ability to sink his hips is unique.”
Payton has noted that there are players with really good speed and players that are able to stop quickly. Waddle is a rare case because he's able to do both at a high level. That makes him a dynamic player.
Denver safety Brandon Jones, who played with Waddle with the Miami Dolphins, knows exactly what the receiver brings to the team.
“He’s exactly who he was in Miami," Jones said earlier this month. "Might be a little faster, which is insane. I didn't think that was physically possible, but great teammate, great person. He just brings a different type of juice."
Waddle, 27, is now entering his sixth season in the NFL after totaling 373 receptions for 5,039 yards and 26 touchdowns with the Dolphins. He'll look to help take the Broncos' offense to the next level in 2026.
