The closer we get to the draft, the more likely it seems that Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson could be a first-round pick next Thursday.

Henderson (5-10, 202 pounds) is rising up draft boards -- not necessarily with teams, but with pundits and fans who are catching up to where NFL teams have the RB ranked. His latest pre-draft visit is with the Denver Broncos today, according to a report from KUSA-TV's Mike Klis.

It's easy to imagine Henderson as a fit for coach Sean Payton's offense because he's a productive runner, a great pass blocker and a capable receiver out of the backfield. Henderson seemingly checks all the boxes Payton wants filled by a running back.

In four years with the Buckeyes, Henderson rushed for 3,761 yards and 42 touchdowns while adding 853 receiving yards and six scores as a receiver out of the backfield.

I’ve been focusing on rosters/needs this morning and one thing stood out- Ohio St RB TreyVeyon Henderson has a skill set that fits a bunch of teams. He might go much earlier than general consensus. Mismatch player with exceptional pass pro & HR ability.

Boise State's Ashton Jeanty is expected to be off the board well before the Broncos go on the clock, and UNC's Omarion Hampton might not last until pick No. 20, either. That could leave Henderson as the best remaining running back for Denver next week.

The Broncos hold seven picks in this year's NFL draft (April 24-26).
