Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at second-year running back RJ Harvey, No. 12.
Before the Broncos: Harvey (5-8, 205 pounds) spent four years at UCF, helping them through a conference transition from the American conference to the Big 12. In 2024, Harvey had the best year of his college career, leading the Big 12 with 6.8 yards per attempt, 22 rushing touchdowns and 25 total touchdowns. Harvey fit a "Joker" role in Broncos' head coach Sean Payton's offense and was piced in the second round (60th overall) in the 2025 NFL draft by Denver.
Broncos tenure: Harvey quickly thrust himself into the backup role behind veteran running back J.K. Dobbins to start the year. Harvey showed tremendous speed when in the open field, especially on a 40-yard touchdown run against the Dallas Cowboys. Harvey's dual ability as a pass-catcher and a rusher showed during the season, as he led all skill players on the team (and all NFL rookies) with 12 total touchdowns (seven rushing, five receiving) in 2025. Harvey finished the year with 540 yards rushing on 146 carries and 47 catches for 356 yards.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Projected RB2. Harvey brought a flexible skillset in his rookie season that showed his value in a big way. After 12 total touchdowns in 2025, Harvey's health could propel him into the staring role should J.K. Dobbins go down at any point throughout the year. Harvey will aim to take another step forward in Year 2.
