Broncos Wire's 91-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at second-year linebacker Johnny Walker, No. 59.

Before the Broncos: Walker (6-4, 250 pounds) made a name for himself at Mizzou from 2020-2024. Walker played in 41 games for the Tigers, making 104 total tackles (57 solo, 47 assisted, 26 tackles for loss), 18.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one pass deflection. After college, Walker was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Denver Broncos after the 2025 NFL draft.

Broncos tenure: Walker received the highest signing bonus of any Broncos undrafted free agent in 2025, and the most guaranteed money. With that kind of financial commitment, Walker was a highly promising candidate to make the roster as an undrafted player. However, the plan for Walker to make the 53-man roster hit a significant snag when he suffered a lower-body injury ahead of the 2025 regular season before the 53-man roster was set. The injury was so severe that Denver placed him on season-ending IR, but did not release him.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: An interesting case. Walker could have easily been waived ahead of the 2026 NFL season, but he wasn't. Walker may have been set to be a part of the Broncos' plans in 2025, and could find a way to come back onto the roster in 2026. At worst, he should have a strong chance as a practice squad candidate.
