Broncos Wire's 91-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at tenth-year defensive lineman D.J. Jones, No. 93.

Before the Broncos: Jones (6-0, 305 pounds) entered the NFL as a sixth-round selection (198th overall) of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2017 NFL draft. Jones helped the Niners through several difficult seasons before finally tasting playoff success, when the 49ers reached the Super Bowl in 2019. Jones remained in Santa Clara for two more seasons before entering free agency ahead of the 2022 season. Jones finished his time in San Francisco with 126 total tackles (92 solo, 34 assisted, 23 tackles for loss), seven sacks, three forced fumbles and three pass deflections.

Broncos tenure: Jones signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Denver Broncos ahead of the 2022 campaign. Jones instantly made a huge impact in the middle of the defensive line, starting and playing in 15 games, finishing with 34 total tackles (22 solo, 12 assisted and three tackles for loss), 2.0 sacks and setting a career-high in pass deflections (six).

In 2023, Jones again had a dominant performance on the interior, starting and playing in 16 games. Jones made 46 total tackles (30 solo, 16 assisted, five tackles for loss), 2.0 sacks, setting career-highs in forced fumbles (three) and fumble recoveries (two). Jones made the most of his final year of his initial three-year deal, racking up 42 total tackles (21 solo, 21 assisted, one tackle for loss), 1.0 sacks, three pass deflections and one fumble recovery. Jones was rewarded with another three-year contract which will keep him in Denver through 2028.

In 2025, Jones had another stellar year, starting 14 of 16 regular season games, making 39 total tackles (21 solo, 18 assisted, four tackles for loss), three sacks, and one pass deflection.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: As good as it gets. Jones' veteran presence in the heart of the trenches has been a constant during his time with the Broncos, and will continue to bolster one of the best defensive units in the NFL. Already on his second contract in Denver, Jones will be a starter on day one of training camp, and is here to stay.
