The Denver Broncos reached a three-year agreement with pending linebacker Justin Strnad on Sunday, and they might not be done at the position.
Following that deal, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Denver's also making an effort to re-sign fellow linebacker Alex Singleton. That's no surprise given that general manager George Paton said at the NFL combine that he would like to re-sign both Strnad and Singleton.
Brandon Krisztal of Guerilla Sports has also reported that the Broncos want to bring Singleton back for the 2026 season. Strnad has campaigned for the team to also re-sign his linebacker partner.
"I don't see why you don't run it back with that defense,'' Strnad told KUSA-TV's Mike Klis. "I think everyone knows we're close. We're really close to being there."
Strnad will earn an average of $6 million per season — starter money — and Singleton will likely want starter money wherever he lands. So if Denver brings back Singleton, it will create uncertainty about Dre Greenlaw's future. Greenlaw missed almost half of the 2025 season due to injury, and the Broncos would save about $6 million if he's cut.
With the NFL's free agency negotiating window opening on Monday, Singleton will be a key player to track. The linebacker's landing spot could have a domino effect in Denver.
