Broncos' newest offensive weapon predicted to hit massive numbers in 2026 originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Denver Broncos have had one of the league's best defenses over the last couple of seasons, but adding a player to help make the offense more explosive seemed imperative this offseason. A March trade with the Miami Dolphins to acquire wide receiver Jaylen Waddle accomplished that task.
Waddle steps in as the new No. 1 wide receiver for the Broncos, moving veteran Courtland Sutton to the No. 2 role, a role he's much more suited for at this stage of his career. Waddle's speed and athleticism should open up the field for the Broncos and give Bo Nix his most dangerous receiver to date.
Fantasy Football experts agree. Derek Brown of Fantasy Pros believes that Waddle will have a huge 2026 season, but Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report takes it one step further, predicting that Waddle will finish as a top-10 wide receiver this season.
"Waddle is going to lead the Broncos in targets this season. Last year, Sutton turned the No. 1 role at receiver in Denver into 74 catches, over 1,000 yards and top-15 numbers in PPR points.
Sutton isn't going to disappear. But Waddle is a better and more explosive pass-catcher, including leading the league at 18.1 yards per reception in 2022.
He's going to finish as a fantasy WR1—and win fantasy leagues for people as a result", wrote Davenport.
This makes Waddle a sneaky addition to your roster when entering your fantasy drafts this offseason. If you are a dynasty league manager who has Waddle on your roster, you should be licking your chops. If not, he's a player whom you could target in a trade and pay an affordable price before this prediction becomes true.
But if those were Waddle's fantasy numbers, you would have to believe they would translate to huge success for the Broncos on the actual football field. The Broncos were missing that home-run hitter on offense last season and Waddle could be the player to unlock the piece of this team that kept it from reaching the Super Bowl.
