Brittney Sykes injury update leads to worst fears for Toronto Tempo originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Brittney Sykes has looked right at home with the Toronto Tempo.

That simply adds to the heartbreak of the injury she sustained on Tuesday night while taking on the Indiana Fever.

It was a non-contact injury as Sykes looked to cut from the right wing.

She went down in clear pain, and her teammates recognized the severity almost immediately. They came and surrounded her to keep the cameras away.

Fans almost immediately feared the worst after seeing this:

Man, prayers up for Brittney Sykes. Looks like her knee gave out again. It's serious though, you can see her reaction. Check it out in this clip. #20. Off the ball. :( pic.twitter.com/aLlJLBsz66

Most of the speculation has been about Sykes' Achilles.

So far, the Tempo simply termed it a non-contact foot injury.

Sykes entered the night averaging 20.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Now 32 years old, she likely doesn't have a ton of years left at the top of her game, and if this is indeed a season-ender, that's a real shame.

Tempo fans will hope for positive test results on this, but it doesn't look good.

No update on Sykes from Brondello. Said she'll be evaluated, but hopes it's not too serious.
I just saw her in the hallway on a scooter with ice on her foot. Seemed to be in good spirits.
