Former Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir has agreed to a short-term deal to join Nottinghamshire's Notts Outlaws for the remainder of the 2026 Vitality Blast. The left-arm quick links up with the side at Trent Bridge as they push for qualification to the knockout stages of the competition.
Crucially, Amir holds a British passport, meaning he will not be counted as an overseas player for the duration of his stay, including any potential knockout matches. That status allows the Outlaws to add his considerable experience without using up an overseas slot, a significant boost to their squad depth.
At 34, Amir brings an outstanding T20 record to Nottingham. He has claimed 425 career Twenty20 wickets at an average of just 22.63 and an economy rate of 7.36, with a best return of 6/17, making him one of the most accomplished operators in the format.

Mohammad Amir is excited for Trent Bridge return
Amir expressed his delight at joining the club, drawing on fond memories of a venue where he has enjoyed success on the international stage in the past.
"I'm really excited to have joined Notts. I've heard lots of good things about this club, and I'm looking forward to it. I have lots and lots of memories at Trent Bridge, and I know that T20 is all about entertaining the people, so I'll be trying my best to do well for this team and make this crowd happy," Amir said.
He also backed himself to add to the side's recent momentum, with the Outlaws having won their last three matches in the competition heading into his arrival.
"The team has played the last three games really well, and I'll be trying to help carry that momentum forward throughout the tournament," Amir added.

A decorated white-ball career
Amir is a two-time international trophy winner, having lifted the 2009 ICC T20 World Cup and the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy with Pakistan, both hosted in England. His domestic success in the country includes a 2019 Vitality Blast title with Essex and a place in Oval Invincibles' 2024 Hundred-winning squad.
His franchise experience spans the globe, with a 2020 Pakistan Super League title alongside stints in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies. That breadth of experience was central to the Outlaws' decision to bring him in for the business end of the campaign.
Moores welcomes a familiar face in Mohammad Amir
Notts Outlaws head coach Peter Moores, who previously worked with Amir at Karachi Kings in the PSL, praised the seamer's skill set and mental strength as ideal additions for the closing stages of the tournament.
"Mo has a great skill set for both the powerplay and the end of the innings, as well as the mental strength to deliver under pressure, which has made him so valuable to teams around the world. He has great energy and passion to play, having experienced all the highs and lows our game can throw at you," Moores said.
The Outlaws coach didn't mince his words when he called Amir someone who ticks the boxes of both high skill and strong mental ability. His side is currently sitting second in the six-team North Group, from which the top two are guaranteed a place in the last eight.
Amir is available for selection for Friday's trip to face Kent Spitfires, a side Notts have not met in T20 cricket since 2007.
