The Kansas City Chiefs head into the 2026 season on the back of one of their worst NFL campaigns in many years.
They finished third in the AFC West table with a record of six wins and 11 losses, missing out on the play-offs as a result.
That was the first time they had failed to top their table since all the way back in 2015 when they ended in second place, and was the first time they had finished third or lower since 2012 (fourth place).
It was a major drop-off from the Chiefs, who had been Super Bowl regulars in recent years. But Ben Isaacs still thinks they have a chance of being in contention for the showpiece in the coming season despite their recent slump.

Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes make Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl contenders
Isaacs, who is based in London, England, was speaking on The Nat Coombs Show this week when he was asked if he’s ready to rule out the Kansas City Chiefs as Super Bowl contenders.
He replied: “Absolutely not.”
When explaining his reasoning, he pointed out that while the Chiefs have lost some players ‘there’s still Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes’.
Isaacs stated: “Now, I’m ready to stop treating them as automatic favourites, which I think we all did for a few years, which was fair. But I’m not going to stop treating them as contenders.
“Obviously, he’s returning, he being Patrick Mahomes, from ACL and LCL, there are players gone from the secondary, but there’s still Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.”
He added: “I still expect a lot of great things from this Chiefs team. They are a Super Bowl contender, absolutely. I am not writing them off at all.”
