The Milwaukee Brewers have snapped their six-year streak of selecting a college hitter in the first round of the MLB draft.

But, they were still able to snag an expected first-round talent at No. 66 overall with their selection of TCU outfielder Sawyer Strosnider on Saturday, July 11.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Cincinnati native had been linked to the Brewers in many mock drafts as their potential first-round pick, and the board ended up working in their favor as they landed a player who is considered by many to be one of the best overall athletes in the 2026 class.

He was ranked as the No. 13 overall prospect by Baseball America and No. 22 by MLB.com.

Strosnider, 21, is coming off a sophomore season in which he hit .273 with 13 home runs and 50 runs batted in with an OPS of 1.005 over 50 games for the Horned Frogs. He also stole 12 bases while splitting time between right field and center field.

Named the Big 12 freshman of the year in 2025, Strosnider hit .350/11/51/1.070 with 10 stolen bases in 56 games while becoming just the sixth NCAA Division I player to record double-digit doubles, triples, homers and steals in a season.
