Major League Baseball's deadline for teams and players to reach arbitration agreements is Thursday, Jan. 8, with the formal deadline noon CT and the "real" deadline used by both sides at 7 p.m. After the deadline passes, the sides must exchange their final salary numbers, one of which will be picked at an arbitration hearing to determine that player's salary for the season.

It doesn't have to reach a hearing, though, if an agreement isn't struck by the Jan. 8 deadline. While teams often do follow the file-and-trial method, using the deadline to exchange numbers as a firm negotiating finish line, the Milwaukee Brewers in recent years have moved away from that. Last year, they reached a deal with William Contreras after the clock struck zero; two years ago, they did the same with Devin Williams.

The Brewers have six players to negotiate with before the deadline: Contreras, Trevor Megill, Garrett Mitchell, Brice Turang, Andrew Vaughn and Angel Zerpa. The club already reached an agreement with first baseman Jake Bauers ahead of November's deadline to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players.

Below are updates as news of agreements trickles in.

Trevor Megill agrees for $4.7 million

Megill is in his second year of arbitration eligibility and received $1.94 million in 2025. The right-handed reliever made his first all-star appearance and racked up 30 saves with a 2.49 earned run average.

He will make $4.7 million this year, according to Ari Alexander.

Brice Turang receives a handsome Super-2 payment

Turang is eligible for arbitration as a "Super 2" player, meaning he ranks in the top 22% in service time among those between two and three years in the majors. FanSided's Robert Murray reports Turang settled at $4.15 million with the Brewers.

That sets Turang up to continue receiving high-end arbitration salaries over his remaining three years of eligibility with the Brewers. Given they are going to almost certainly pay to retain their second baseman each year, does that incentivize the Brewers to try and reach an extension with him?

Andrew Vaughn to receive more than $7 million

The first base position is set for Milwaukee, with Vaughn joining Bauers in reaching an agreement. Vaughn is set to receive $7.65 million in 2026, according to Murray.

Vaughn hit .308 with a .869 on-base plus slugging with Milwaukee after coming over midseason from the Chicago White Sox for Aaron Civale. He has two years of club control remaining after 2026, although he may work himself out of a price range the Brewers are comfortable with.
