Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski plan is bad news for All-Star Game originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Milwaukee Brewers might have the best pitcher in baseball dominating for them this season, as 24-year-old Jacob Misiorowski has broken out this season.

He's the likely NL Cy Young favorite right now, and also is a lock to make the All-Star team. But his role during the All-Star Game, whether he starts it or not, is very much uncertain.

Unfortunately, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, the Brewers' pitching plan doesn't exactly bode well for Misiorowski to pitch during the All-Star Game in Philadelphia.

Jacob Misiorowski is unlikely to pitch during All-Star Game

"Upcoming schedule means Miz unlikely to pitch in All-Star Game," McCavly writes. The reason why is simple: Misiorowski is set to pitch three times in July before the All-Star break.

He's pitching against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday, July 2, then is scheduled to step on the mound against the St. Louis Cardinals on July 7, and then on Sunday, July 12, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

As McCalvy notes, "By rule, a pitcher who starts on that final Sunday of the first half is ineligible to pitch in the All-Star Game two days later."

With that rule in mind, it's clear that the current plan for Misiorowski will have him ineligible to pitch during the All-Star Game.

The Brewers could move his start back and let him pitch during the July 14 All-Star Game. But that might throw the team's pitching plan for a bit of a loop.

If Milwaukee sticks to its current plan, Misiorowski won't be pitching during the All-Star Game. Misiorowski not pitching during the All-Star Game would be a little disappointing, but this team has bigger fish to fry this season.

The Brewers are a legitimate World Series contender, and maybe getting Misiorowski a lot of rest through the All-Star break would be a good thing.

But that doesn't mean it's not a little disappointing that he is, currently, not likely to pitch during the All-Star Game.

He has a chance to start the All-Star Game, but the current Brewers pitching plan will have Misiorowski ineligible to pitch as he's set to start Sunday before the break.
