The Milwaukee Brewers bounced back from a series loss to the San Francisco Giants by dismantling the Colorado Rockies in Mile High City. Milwaukee completed a three-game sweep of the Rockies at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, with a 12-4 victory on Sunday.
That win marked the fastest in Milwaukee franchise history to reach 40 wins to start a season, and the team can thank its offense for that victory, as it needed only 63 games to get there this season.
Milwaukee’s bats woke up in the sixth inning, where the team poured in seven runs to break the game open.
Among those who stepped up in the sixth frame for Milwaukee was first baseman Andrew Vaughn, who had an RBI triple to right-center. It was only his first triple as a Brewer and first since 2024, when he was still with the Chicago White Sox.
The rarity of which led to a hilarious quip by Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy.
“I told him he’d never have one again,” the two-time National League Manager of the Year said after the game, via Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
On the season, Vaughn is hitting .341/.400/.488 with a home run, a triple and seven doubles in 26 games.
Vaughn’s triple plated William Contreras, who hit a single earlier. Then later, Vaughn was driven home by Gary Sanchez’s two-run home run that gave the Brewers the lead, 4-3.
