In any event, thank you Ouchie for changing it. I don't mind the content, it was just the way you displayed it was really irritating. Now go ahead and continue to be pissed off.

Some of you guys are going to be no matter what.

y'know, i'd have been bummed that we didn't sign kobe no matter what, so maybe you're right. but i we had signed nash to a SANE contract and maybe a swift or camby or dampier or some other athletic (read: not okur) center-type to a reasonable contract i would not have been pissed. but we didn't do that, we signed nash to a ridiculous contract that will come back to haunt us.

Let's get this back to basketball shall we? This is turning into an old school darkside/Vikesfan thread and those all sucked.

I think Nash is a good consolation prize - I just had much higher hopes which is why I am so pissed - I guess at least we'll make the playoffs again and then who knows????

after how many others made that really pithy and solely-basketball-related comment? it's called piling on son.

eh, okay. i'll agree, nash does increase our collective talent. we'll be better. i am still curious to see what else we do this offseason. however i do not have high hopes of reaching the playoffs yet. we WERE the second worst team in the western conference. so despite what we may see as our talent, the truth is in the record. we have a LOOOOOOONG way to climb still. i think there is gonna be a lot of orange koolaid working its magic this summer and i unfortunately see us getting better, but not that better. at least not with this move and the okur i think coming.

If Okurs on the way - then all bets are off - the Darkside will make permanent residence on the Suns board - and for all Cards fans - you know that ain't good.

OK. Wow. That was fast. Here are my initial impressions.

• The speed of this, along with all the moves they've been making leading up to this makes me think that they knew Nash would be signing witht them from the beginning. The Devin Harris pick makes me think that, too.

• They must have gotten the idea that Kobe won't sign. It's the only way.

• My hope is that by the time Nash starts to wind down, the team will be in great shape around him. Zarko, Lampe, STAT, JJ, Barbosa, Vujanic. As Nash starts to break down(hopefully not too soon), the rest of the team won't need him any more(please, please, please...)

• Amare and JJ will be farther along than we thought and with Nash we'll be an immediately top tier team in this league(again: please, please, please)

they will have to basically admit everything they did was wrong and remake the team just like Cards have done - DG shut the Darksiders up pretty good.

Fordronken, when Nash starts to break down, we will have to send one of those pieces around him in a trade to unload his big salary. Then we will be back in the same boat. Like what happened with Penny.

Nash is cool, but I liked Marbs a lot.

No I mean what is acceptable next year with this team? I would wager that getting out of the first round would have to make you guys pretty happy.

Like I said though, to me the goal is just getting to the playoffs again.

The Suns continue their implosion.

Signing Steve Nash to the money they did shows their level of desperation. They are dying in the desert. They cleared all of that cap space only to end up with Nash. What a freakin joke they have become. The Colangelos are killing off both the Suns and the Diamondbacks. Don't look for ressurection any time in the near future. Both teams are going to have to rebuild through the draft and use Amare and Randy as trade bait, probably for future picks. The word is already out that Finley will most likely be traded before the deadline. I kind of soured on the Suns when they got greedy after the finals against the Bulls. They told businesses not to post the Suns logo unless they paid a fee to do so. So to the Colangelos; :moon:

acceptable? Well I really hace zero expectations with this team now until I see them play. But off the bat we are going to be soft - and our core is now soft - we have only one player who's got the eye of the tiger so to speak and our team is pretty much the way it's gonna be now for five years. We ain't getting anyone who can actually play center for 6 million - if anyone thinks that - just go back to yesterday when everyone though we'd get Nash for around 7-8 - I actually can't respond to this question, but I think the only thing that will make me happy is one thing - Amare reaches his potential and is an abolsute dominant force on both ends of the floor - that will give me hope because his potential greateness is the only thing that will ever make this current squad an actual contender - So that is what I want to see - Amare have a DRob type impact or a Duncan type impact - I want him to dominate and then I'll be able to breathe easier - until that day comes and I hope it comes soon, because Nash at an escalating salary playing 30 minutes a night within two or three years - we will be in big trouble again.

I actually wouldn't be so bent out of shape if not for the ridiculous amount of money spent on Nash - it precludes us from getting anyone in the middle that can really play I fear. I was starting to come around to the notion that we might not get Kobe and that Nash and Camby -- while extremely high risk - would be a great backup plan - Someone to run the offense and a shot blocker - oh a shot-blocker for once who could run the floor with this squad - now it's gonna be and garbage and I just felt that we could have done more this offseason.

Do we have any other sources for this than the never reliable ESPN?

If true, we have 13 days to talk them out of it.

It would be so easy for Suns fans to go on the Cards board and bash their team.

Stop coming on this board just to post this negative nonsense. It is really annoying and shows a lack of class in my opinion.

that picture just makes me cringe on nba.com.

I guess a lot of my dissapointment also stems from where and when I became a Suns fans - I was never into sports until 1988 and I went to my first Cards game - they hooked me and then the KJ, Chambers, Horny, Majerle, EJ teams just reeled me in -I got spoiled - my first two years as a Suns fan I saw us go to the conference Finals twice - once getting swept by the Lakers - but putting up a tought fight and then losing to the Blazers in one of the greatest playoff runs from a 5 seed ever the next year. I mean KJ's bucket with 2 seconds left in Game 5 in Utah to win the series - Cotton and his butterfly coolar beating the Lakes in Game 1 at the forum to break a 33 game losing streak there and ultimately kicking their ass to the tune of 4-1 - eliminating the 64-18 Lakers and ultimately ending Showtime - showing Pat Riley the door and then the conference finals v.s Portland - blowing that 18 point lead on the road inGame 2 - seeing horny miss that gimme under the hoop - but then seeing them rally back to win the next two and playing their hearts out without KJ in Game when Horny scored 36 points and had control of the game till Big Daddy threw a pass right to Drexler to swing the shift in the game. Then I was young and still believe for the next couple years - well, beacsue I was young and didn't know any better -

BUT then we got Charles and for 3 years we ruled the NBA - so my first 7 years I was incredibly spoiled and maybe I just want that back - but I'm wiser now - I know how basketball works now - I know how sports work now and I fear that with this move - wbhile making us good - will never get us back to that point - especially with the money we laid out for Nash - if we had even gotten Nash and Camby - I would have been stoked but there just ain't the money to do it anymore - I wish I could happy about us just being good again - but really - weren't we all super stoked before this season started - and what happened they struggled out of the gate - but then seemed to maybe be turning things around when we kicked the snot out of the Mavs, but then Zarko went down and then Amare went down and the team went to **** - well - I still think the core of the team before this year was more solid and younger than this team and that's one of the main reasons I don't see all that much to get excited about.

I hope to God to be proven wrong and if I do - I will be the first one to happily stuff a heaping plate of crow down my mouth - just like whent he Cards signed Dennis Green - but man - I just don't have that feeling right now.

- I will be the first one to happily stuff a heaping plate of crow down my mouth

It's actually pretty good marinated in spicy sesame vinaigrette and served on a bed of mixed greens with goat cheese and hazelnuts. Crow tamales work too. BBQ crow-kebabs are always a bit dry, however, and crow sushi sux. (DBacks fans have been working on crow recipes for a few years. That was the one good thing about 111 losses - didn't have to eat much crow in 2004.)

Man, were you guys wrong! LOL. Very amusing thread.

you know, i'm still not sure we were wrong. we all agreed that the suns would be better. and i know not a single person on this board thought they'd be THIS much better, but we knew they'd be better. most of us even thought they'd make the playoffs.

if you reread alot of the angry posts it wasn't so much that we signed nash (though many, myself leading the charge, were unhappy it was nash instead of kobe), but rather it was the dollar and year amount that made us unhappy. and our fears regarding that point may yet still be proven out. i hope not, but it could be the case.

also, not a single person at the time of the nash signing could have foreseen the q signing. i'll admit, when we signed him i was a bit baffled. and even a bit into the season i was skeptical of q. but now i realize that he's the backbone of our toughness. and he's been a vital cog in our winning.

but yeah, this thread in retrospect is rather funny. man did none of us see battling for best record coming . . .
