Though they have yet to lose a series, the Atlanta Braves had a chance at a sweep spoiled in Thursday afternoon’s 5-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The Braves jumped out to an early lead, and a strong start from Bryce Elder put them in position to complete the sweep.

However, things unraveled late. Atlanta’s bullpen faltered in the eighth and ninth innings, as Joel Payamps and José Suárez struggled to hold the lead. Facing a three-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth, the Braves were unable to mount a comeback, resulting in their tenth loss of the season.

Up next, the Braves travel out West for a three-game set with the Colorado Rockies. MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reported the Braves’ pitching plans, which include Grant Holmes, Chris Sale, and Spencer Strider.

The Braves will go with Grant Holmes (Friday), Chris Sale (Saturday) and Spencer Strider (Sunday) as their starters during this weekend's series at Coors Field. Sale and Strider will be lined up to also start the following weekend at Dodger Stadium.

The series gets underway tonight at 8:40 ET.
