Royval started aggressively, pressuring Kavanagh with his volume early on. Kavanagh responded sharply and dropped Royval with a perfectly timed right hand in the second round, but the latter survived the onslaught and rallied late. After a frantic exchange in the final frame, Royval forced the tap with a rear-naked choke to earn a dramatic submission victory.

Royval, who absorbed several damaging blows at UFC 329, praised his opponent in a post-match interview, claiming to be a fan of the Brit’s style.

“I feel good, man. I love how Lone’er Kavanagh fights,” Royval said. “Maybe one of my favorite partners to get prepared for. It’s been a horrible camp. You know, I was getting kicked so much and beat up so much… I am happy I escaped with a W and I had fun in there.”

“I’m the king of chaos,” he later added after rebounding from back-to-back losses.
