We all knew this day would come: life without Brandon Graham on the Philadelphia Eagles' roster. Though it seemed like he could play football forever, we all knew he couldn't, so after 15 years, all with the Eagles, he called it a career. Then, he took some time off before returning for year 16. Then, he potentially retired for the second time.
Graham's future was one of the topics on the breakfast table when the NFL Network's highly popular Good Morning Football team welcomed him for a chat.
He talked about philanthropic endeavors, his Brandon Graham Youth Football Camp. He also, as expected, talked about his Philadelphia Eagles. For 16 seasons, he embodied everything Philadelphia wanted its football team to represent: toughness, resilience, and unwavering optimism. That's why anything he says is worth mulling over.
Graham praised Jalen Hurts for continuing to develop despite seeing more change than any functioning quarterback would enjoy. Throughout Hurts' career, it's been well-documented that he has had to adapt to new offensive coordinators and new voices. Rather than allowing that turnover to derail his growth, he has continued finding ways to elevate his game.
Now he'll do it again under offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. If anyone understands how difficult constant change can be, it's Graham, who watched Hurts navigate those transitions from inside the locker room.
Talk about 'night and day' scenarios... While the offense begins another transition, the defense sits on the other side of the spectrum. They haven't had as much change. They instead are enjoying continuity.
Vic Fangio returns for another season after helping reshape Philadelphia's identity on that side of the football. Graham believes that familiarity could become one of the Eagles' biggest advantages entering 2026.
Players already understand the expectations. The terminology is familiar. The scheme no longer requires a massive learning curve for the returning stars. Now, they can help teach the new guys. That's a luxury any NFL defense would enjoy.
For Graham, that's a reason for optimism. The Eagles may experience growth on offense through another coaching transition, but their defense has an opportunity to build upon an already strong foundation. If both sides of the football continue moving in the right direction, Philadelphia won't simply be talented. It'll be experienced, connected, and better equipped to chase another championship.
Graham has always been one of the Eagles' biggest optimists, but his confidence has rarely been rooted in blind faith. It's built on what he sees inside the locker room. If his outlook proves accurate once again, Philadelphia won't just enter 2026 believing it can contend. The Eagles will have every reason to think another championship run is within reach.
