I think the stretching is bad. The only weapon we have over other franchises is Ishbia's willing to spend money on free agents. We can't do that if we have a huge amount of cap space being taken up by the ghost of Beal.

This is my understanding. The Suns would have to fill holes by trades and vet minimum contracts to stay there.

Beal, even with his injury history, is 5x the player Jae was. Sitting him isn't an option, nor should it be.

I have always thought the second best thing to do with Beal is play him. Don't give away assets if you can't find a decent trade.

Ott will try to win, just like the previous coach. Just hope Dunn is not put in the doghouse. So Beal will get rotation minutes when he's healthy. Who do you want to develop instead at his position? It will be at expense of CG12, but Brea has to earn it. Other than that we have Allen and O'Neale. The young guys that need time are bigs. Beal will not take their minutes. Everyone should have to earn it, even though I also would like the veterans to sit more...

He is not going to gain value as the season goes on, maaaaaaaaybe next Summer we could move him as an expiring but that requires us to take back a bunch of money and doesn't really help our cap situation.

As for sitting him or playing him... he was awful last year, his impact was negative, especially in the 2nd half of the year, we were much better when he was out. He doesn't fit at all with the players we currently have and if he gets hurt (or I should say WHEN he gets hurt) we're still on the hook and he becomes even more immovable.

Also, when we are inevitably unable to trade him anywhere by the deadline, his motivation for accepting a buyout will be gone because at that point in the year no one else will have any money to throw at him, he'd be on a minimum contract. So, w

If we can't dump Allen and O'Neale to get under the apron (and that doesn't appear to be happening) then buying out and stretching Beal is the only solution.

It matters more in the sense of the receiving team not being in control going forward than Beal approving the actual trade. I agree that even if there wasn’t a trade clause it’s unlikely someone takes it because of money and injuries .

Maybe we are all melting in the heat, but Gerald Bourguet is thinking a buyout is imminent, at least per a source.

I was beginning to think a straight buyout might be best and lose salary elsewhere, eg, Allen and/or O'Neale.

He’s just not part of the plan going forward. Simple as that. I’m sure behind the scenes the suns have had multiple talks with him but he hasnt budged.

He will realize he’s only tanking his own value from here on out. For him two years is too soon, for use two years of him left is too long.

The threat of sitting him is real as without his cooperation in a buyout, the team is going nowhere regarding playoffs, and would rather give time to rookies and experiment with Green. But can Beal waste 2 years of playing and restart his NBA career at age 34? So, they will meet in the middle for mutual benefits.
