Carmel won its 12th straight team title. The Greyhounds won the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Here are the reactions from Indy-area winners, all results and highlights from Saturday’s races.

Central Indiana champions

Yi Zheng, Carmel, 200 individual medley

As soon as Zheng jumped off the blocks, the race was over. The Carmel junior and Stanford commit cruised to the finish line in the 200 individual medley, winning with a time of 1:43.92, nearly four seconds faster than runner-up, Oldenburg Academy junior Nash King (1:47.23). Zheng finished runner-up in the event last year and said adjusting to Carmel in his second season at the school helped him win. Zheng also led Carmel to victory in the 200 medley relay.

“Last year, when I first moved to Carmel, I was really trying to balance school with a new environment, swimming, and a higher training load,” Zheng said. “This year I feel like I’ve adjusted to that, and it definitely helped get to where I am now.”

Alex Koo, Fishers, 100 butterfly

The Fishers junior was behind after the first 50 yards, but eventually caught up to Center Grove’s Henry Lyness and narrowly beat the senior to capture the state title in the 100 butterfly. Koo, the fifth-ranked recruit in the Indiana class of 2027, finished with a time of 48.15. Lyness finished in second with a time of 48.59.

“I worked a lot harder this season than I did last season, so it’s more rewarding to win,” Koo said. “I was more focused, and with a lot of our seniors gone, I stepped up.”

Trent Allen, Carmel, 200 and 500 freestyle

Allen became a back-to-back state champion in the 200 and 500 freestyle Saturday, further establishing him as the Carmel junior as the best freestyle specialist in the state. The Florida commit finished the 200 with a time of 1:35.08, more than three seconds faster than his teammate, runner-up Lewis Zheng. Allen followed with a time of 4:20.02 in the 500 freestyle. Allen has his sights set on a three-peat.

”It almost feels crazy to think I can win three in a row,” Allen said. “I’ve seen the people who’ve done it. They’re all great — Olympic champions and NCAA record holders. It feels like a great way for my career to be heading.”

Lucas Ackermann, Franklin, 100 breaststroke

Ackermann was victorious in the 100 breaststroke final, finishing with a time of 53.23. In a meet dominated by Carmel, Penn and Homestead, the senior represented Franklin well. The Texas A&M commit edged out Zheng in a thrilling final and proved why he’s the top recruit in the Indiana class of 2026.

Carter Hadley, Carmel, 100 backstroke

Hadley earned his first state title when he finished with a winning time of 48.41 Saturday in the 100 backstroke final. The Carmel senior capped his career as a Greyhound on a high note. Hadley, who is committed to Southern Methodist, said he set a goal to have “fun” at his final state meet. Hadley broke his ankle in November and said the injury motivated him to persist through the season.

”I had a chip on my shoulder to persevere, and it’s taken me to where I am today,” Hadley said.
