The Boston Celtics schedule for the `2026-27 NBA regular season is already weird. And a case can be made that it is weird for the entire NBA. On one hand, there are some weird additions that are actually kind of thoughtful for the fans of the Celtics and the NBA more generally with the first game to be played of the season starting at 3pm ET, prime time viewing across the pond.

But not all Celtics fans are taking that well, and having the Philadelphia 76ers facing off with the Los Angeles Lakers instead of the Celtics makes some sense on a viewership level -- until you consider that the summer's most dominant storyline is not being represented in the Opening Night or Christmas Day games. And we are just getting started!
