The Boston Celtics formally announced the signing of Ron Harper Jr. on Monday (July 6) via press release. Though in the release, the terms of the deal were, us usual, not disclosed, USA TODAY senior reporter Mike Scotto related that the "Celtics signed Ron Harper Jr. to a four-year, $13.7 million deal, which includes the first two years fully guaranteed, a third-year non-guaranteed salary, and a fourth-year non-guaranteed team option."
He will reportedly get more than the league's minimum salary, and will have $6.5 million of that guaranteed. "Harper Jr. ... now in his second stint with Boston, progressed through the Celtics organization with an Exhibit 10 contract on Sept. 19, 2025, a two-way contract on Oct. 16, 2025, and a standard NBA contract on April 4," notes the release.
"He appeared in 29 games (three starts) for Boston last season, averaging 4.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in 11.0 minutes per game," it adds.
"The New Jersey native has seen action in 40 NBA games (three starts) over four seasons with (the) Toronto (Raptors) (2022-24), Detroit (Piatons) (2024-25), and Boston (2025-26) with averages of 3.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per game," shares the release.
"Prior to going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, Harper Jr. spent four seasons at Rutgers (2018-22) where he held averages of 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 121 career games (109 starts). He earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors his senior season after averaging a team-high 15.7 points per game and shooting a career-high 39.8 percent ... from 3-point range."
