Boston Celtics’ $56 million man reveals $100,000 Hakeem Olajuwon snub

Neemias Queta may have just signed a big money contract with the Boston Celtics, but he still won’t pay to learn from one of the NBA’s greatest.

Any center that comes into the NBA would snap someone’s hand off if it meant they could have Hakeem Olajuwon’s career. The Dream is one of the greatest to ever do it.

Many modern greats have worked out with Hakeem to learn about all his skills in the paint. However, that knowledge comes at too high a price for some.

The Boston Celtics recently tied center Neemias Queta down to a $56 million contract over four years. That’s a pretty big payday, but the Portuguese star isn’t looking to splurge.

Neemias Queta won’t pay $100,000 to train with Hakeem Olajuwon​

Many NBA stars spend hundreds of thousands a year on improving their fitness and their games. But for Queta, even training with Olajuwon is an expense that doesn’t make the cut.

In an interview with A Bola, he was asked, “With the new salary coming up, would it be easier to spend $100,000 [ €88,000 ] to train for a week with Hakeem Olajuwon on pole movements?”

Queta replied, “I’m stingy. No, I don’t spend $100,000 on training.” He went on to add, “Not even with Hakeem Olajuwon,” making his position on the matter quite clear.

Queta has become quite prominent for his defensive ability, and it’s safe to say that Hakeem might be the ultimate authority on that front. Some knowledge is simply priceless.

However, to each their own. Queta will be focused on performing at a high level with the revamped Celtics, and maybe he thinks he’s ready to dominate without the additional training.
