The Toronto Blue Jays are having a bit of a tough go of things this season, with the injury issue being a massive one for this team.

From Cody Ponce, Shane Bieber, Max Scherzer, and Jose Berrios, to Aljenadro Kirk and Addison Barger, there have been a few lengthy injuries this season. Barger did return from the IL, though it wasn't a lengthy return.

As the Blue Jays announced on Monday afternoon, Barger, after just one game back in the Majors after spending a month on the IL, has been forced back onto the IL with a right elbow injury.

Addison Barger placed on IL just 1 game after month-long absence

"INF/OF Addison Barger (right elbow inflammation) placed on the 10-day IL, retroactive to May 10," the Blue Jays announced.

Barger was initially out for a long time due to an ankle issue, and while he worked his way back to the MLB level after a rehab stint in the minors, he's headed back to the IL after just one game.

Against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday, May 9th, Barger was activated off the IL and played, going 0-for-3 with two walks and one run scored.

He also made a fantastic throw to cut the runner out at home on a throw of 101.2 miles per hour, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com.

Just two days later, and Barger is back on the IL. It's a brutal roster move for the Blue Jays, but especially for Barger.

Between his struggles at the plate culminating in a .045 batting average and .305 OPS, his month-long absence due to an ankle injury, and now this elbow issue, it's been a rough season for Barger.

Yohendrick Pinango is returning to the MLB roster with Barger hitting the IL. It's a tough break for Barger and the Blue Jays, as he'll now spend some time off recovering from another injury this season, and it's only May 11th.
