Blue Jays get exciting 'aggressive' trade rumor from MLB insider originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Toronto Blue Jays haven't had a great 2026 season, as they've gotten out to a poor 25-27 start. But things are trending in the right direction, as they've won four straight games coming into Sunday's matchup.
Even if they're 10.5 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays atop the AL East, the Blue Jays are tied with the Minnesota Twins for the third Wild Card spot, and very much should still be buyers at this year's trade deadline.
According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Blue Jays are expected by their rivals to have an "aggressive" trade deadline that fans should get excited about.
Blue Jays expected to have 'aggressive' trade deadline
"The Blue Jays should be fine in time, and rivals expect them to be aggressive at the trade deadline," Nightengale writes.
Barring a collapse, the Blue Jays should wind up as buyers at this year's trade deadline. If they do buy, this report indicates the Blue Jays are going to be aggressive.
The team could use more starting pitching help with all of the injuries they've had to deal with, and a bit more offensive firepower couldn't hurt either.

Nightengale linked the Blue Jays to Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal as one of four clubs that might be in pursuit of the back-to-back Cy Young winner this season at the deadline.
For Blue Jays fans, to hear that their rivals expect Toronto to be aggressive at this year's deadline is a very fun rumor that, hopefully, will have a chance to come true.
There's bound to be plenty of interesting players available at this year's trade deadline, and with the World Series in their sights after coming so close last year, it would not be a surprise if this rumor came true and Toronto acted as big buyers at this year's deadline.
