Feb. 2—JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown High School Sophistikix Dance Team's season came to an end on Saturday.
The team competed at the 2026 North Dakota Association of Dance and Drill (NDADD) State Competition at the Minot State University Dome on Jan. 30-31.
Head coach Julia Friez helped guide her team to a sixth place finish in the pom category and second in the open category. The team of seventh through 12th graders competes in five dance categories at each competition.
The Sophistikix's junior varsity team won the Judge's Pay it Forward Spirit Award. The JV squad also placed third in the jazz category. This year's Making the Impact award went to Jamestown's JV Jazz.
The NDADD State Competition is just one of several competitions that the Sophistikix placed at this winter.
On Jan. 10, the Sophistikix competed at the team's 7th Annual East Meets West Home Invitational, where they placed first in the open category and second in the kick category.
At the Valley City Hi-Lites Invite in December, the Sophistikix brought home the second-place trophy for the pom category.
