Pitching injuries have not been kind to the Toronto Blue Jays so far this season.

That remains true Monday, at least in how it pertains to Shane Bieber.

The Blue Jays needed a 40-man roster spot after acquiring Lenyn Sosa in a trade with the Chicago White Sox.

To clear that spot, they placed Bieber on the 60-day Injured List.

A spot on the 60 takes a player off the 40-man roster until they're ready to be activated. Since the Blue Jays only traded a minor leaguer for Sosa, they hadn't yet vacated a spot for the White Sox MLB player, so the Bieber move made room.

Bieber still has a long way to go to come back, and the Blue Jays will have to hope no other pitchers get hurt along the way.
