The Toronto Blue Jays have gotten off to a rough start offensively. Toronto currently ranks 23rd in offensive OPS with a .662 mark. They have also lacked power, as their 14 homers so far this season are the second-fewest in baseball. While it's quite difficult to find an offensive stat that the Blue Jays are not below-average in, Friday's win over the New York Yankees was a big one.
After signing superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a $500 million contract, the expectations for this offense were sky high. The right-handed slugger was among those in an early-season funk, particularly in the power department, but it was his solo shot that opened the scoring on Friday.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Blue Jays manager John Schneider delivered a message on his superstar first baseman.
"It’s no secret… As Vlad goes, we go, and hopefully he has a good stay here in New York," Schneider said with a smile via Keegan Matheson of MLB.com.
Part of the reason for Toronto's early-season slump has been due to the fact that their best hitters aren't producing just yet. Guerrero had just a .745 OPS and one home run entering Friday. Meanwhile, fellow star Bo Bichette has not been off to a great start either, with just a .694 OPS.
The Blue Jays currently sit at 13-13 and in third place in the American League East division. They made up some ground with Friday's win, and will look to gain more throughout this series.
