Can we at least talk about how insane that blocked FG was. Dude literally box jumped the Oline and blocked the kick. I was pissed, but also incredibly impressed.
It was a nice block, that's for sure. If the kick had gone through and the rest of the game played out along the same lines that it did, the Cards would have won by 10. Thehandle ringingthat so infects this board would have diminished slightly. I'd have welcomed that.
It did negate the run. However had he not held that run wouldn’t have happened. So yes and no.Also note that IIRC the only reason the Cardinals had to kick the longer field goal is because Froholdt’s penalty, which negated a great Kyler run
but I would rather have had 3rd and 10 at the NO 29 (no penalty and a no gain on the Murray run) than 2nd and 21 at the 39.It did negate the run. However had he not held that run wouldn’t have happened. So yes and no.
We all know petzig isn’t calling a pass.but I would rather have had 3rd and 10 at the NO 29 (no penalty and a no gain on the Murray run) than 2nd and 21 at the 39.
and at that point -- MAYBE Petzing calls a pass at the 29 and they get a chance to convert -- rather than two runs in a row at 2nd and 21 at the 39 to settle for a FG
Either way would have been a shorter field goal - no hold, Kyler gets tackled for little or no gain, 10 yards closer. It did negate the run. However had he not held that run wouldn’t have happened. So yes and no.
He jumps the blocker, how does that happen unless the blocker was in a position he shouldn’t have been.
That play would now be called a penalty. You can't use your teammates to 'launch' yourself over the pile anymore. This game was one of the reasons that rule went into place IIRC.Hmmmm, looks real familiar.
