In another blockbuster move ahead of the 2026 NWSL season, Chelsea of the Women’s Super League and NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League have announced the loan and signing of **** Reiten.
She joins Gotham FC on loan through July, but Reiten, 31, has also agreed to a free agent deal through 2029 once the initial loan expires.
“I’m really excited to join Gotham FC and grateful for the opportunity to be part of this club,” said Reiten. “Gotham has built something special over the past few years, and there’s clear ambition here. I’m looking forward to working hard, learning and doing everything I can to help the team succeed.”
“**** is a player of exceptional quality who has consistently performed at the highest levels of the game,” said Yael Averbuch West, the general manager and head of soccer operations for Gotham FC. “Her experience competing for major trophies with Chelsea and her impact with the Norwegian national team will bring valuable leadership and attacking creativity to our squad. We’re excited to welcome her to Gotham.”
She won 13 trophies with Chelsea including: six Women’s Super League titles, four Women’s FA Cups and three Women’s League Cups. She scored 59 goals and tallied 44 assists in 207 appearances across all competitions.
The past four years, the world class winger has been listed on The Guardian’s 100 Best Footballers.
Internationally, she has been an anchor for the Norway Women’s National team for over a decade – representing her country at FIFA Women’s World Cups and UEFA Women’s European Championships.
In 108 matches, she has scored 21 goals for her country.
**** Reiten shared a heartfelt goodbye to Chelsea FC and thanked everyone for the last six-and-a-half-years and much more.
**** Reiten has today completed a move to NWSL side Gotham FC.
