Bledsoe is more an antique Roman than a Dane.

Just got an alert that the MRI confirmed it's a bruise.

Thanks for the information. This is good news. Still, it seems like ten days is a long time for a bruise to heal.

Sniff sniff does anybody smell a tank? Or they're purposefully trying to keep Bledsoe's value down? I think they've already decided on Bledsoe for the future and have no rush whatsoever in bringing him back.

The MRI happened because Bledsoe has chosen not to play. Suns wanted to make sure it wasn't more serious than they thought. Each night he suits up, goes through warm ups and makes his own decision whether he's going to play that night or not. Suns haven't made a single decision for him.

I wish I knew more about how Bledsoe feels about being a Sun. Injuries are part of the game and can be tolerated.

I can't ever remember seeing a disgruntled player look as happy with and for his teammates as Bledsoe does. Maybe the recent rumors are true but I think they are pretty far-fetched. Human nature just doesn't work that way, IMO. Even if Bledsoe could separate his feelings about the organization from his feelings about the players and coaching staff, it's unlikely the other players would do the same. Their livelihoods are linked together and if Bledsoe was dogging it because he didn't get the max deal he wanted they'd cold shoulder him in a heartbeat IMO.

Not to mention that it wouldn't make any sense to be dogging it if he still wants to get max money in the off-season. I think the only reason that people are coming up with these theories is because when they hear someone has a bruise that it can't be all that bad, but if you factor in it being a bone bruise and put that bruise in just the right spot and it can take a while for the pain to subside enough for the player to be able to effectively push off on that leg.

I know a bruise isn't the same thing, but shin splints are extremely painful and if there is a similarity between the two, I'd give Bledsoe the benefit of the doubt.

If Bledsoe was dogging it in games when he was playing (see Carter, Vince) I'd be much more worried. But when he's on the court, he's been giving it his all, and then some.

Maybe he's worried about severely hurting himself in a contract year. Lots of athletes have gone out and played on gimpy legs and done severe damage. See RG3.

I'm hoping Bledsoe is a happy camper being a Sun. What's not to like. The Suns could sign a player to a max contract (hopefully not Carmelo Anthony) and then sign Bledsoe afterwards in July and be able to do it within the CAP. I don't know if I have it completely right, but Paul Coro was talking about it on his live chat the other day. There was an advantage for the Suns in delaying signing Bledsoe to an extension.

See link to chat. It contains an interesting perspective about the Suns players going forward particularly after the 3:30 mark on the video.

Who does RG3 refer to? Do you guys have to use such cryptic 'names' when the context provides no clues... heck, he may not even be a basketball player...

It's a fair point and in general I agree with you but in Devilalum's case, it's not unreasonable to assume a sports fan would catch the reference. It's easy to forget that just because someone is a Suns fan that doesn't mean he's a sports fan or in this case, an NFL fan. RGIII is one of the biggest names in sports right now, he's the struggling quarterback for the Redskins who took the game by storm just a year earlier. Injury ended his stellar rookie season prematurely and his woes this year appear to be the result of his decision to force himself back into the game before he was fully ready.

Thanks for taking the time to explain it Steve... since I follow the NFL so sketchily it wouldn't have helped me if he'd spelled the name fully, except I wouldn't have wasted time trying to match an NBA name to the initials.

I think his injury is legitimately painful. It's a bone bruise, not just a muscle bruise. It's not something that's going to loosen up as he plays. I think it's a good sign that he continues to dress up and test it, and that he's also honest that he can't go. He has all the incentive to own every game this year, regardless of what he may or may not want to do at the end of the season. If he was ready to go, he'd be on the court.

Eric Bledsoe loves the game of basketball. Loves it. There's no slouch in him. None at all.
