The Los Angeles Dodgers are on a six-game losing streak in the dog days of August, but they are about to get reinforcements in the way of Blake Snell.
According to manager Dave Roberts, Snell’s next pitching start after his rehabilitation outing will be for the Dodgers’ major league club.
On Wednesday, while the Dodgers lost to the Cubs 7-6 for their sixth straight loss, Snell pitched for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The southpaw had a rough outing in his minor league finale, going 3.2 innings and falling short of his five-inning goal while allowing three runs, five hits, two home runs, and four walks.

Despite falling short of his mark, Roberts said Snell will return to the Dodgers at some point next week for the homestand.
“Just making sure that he comes out of today feeling good. He’ll start next week.”
Snell has been down with elbow surgery, missing three months of action so far as he recovers.
He had loose bodies in his elbow removed, something which flared up during his only major league start of the year in May against the Braves.
As a result of shoulder fatigue, he already missed the first part of the season, looking to ease himself back into the mix rather than pushing himself through the discomfort.
Snell tried to do that last time out, but he ended up missing months of action.
This time, he took a cautious approach, but an elbow problem stopped his return to the fold.
Why the Dodgers need Snell back as soon as possible
For a long time, LA was able to hold water with the injuries to Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Shohei Ohtani in the rotation.
They have been able to use their organizational depth and Eric Lauer to great effect, but since the All-Star break, the cracks have started to show.

The Dodgers’ starting rotation sits 27th in FIP (4.97) and dead last in home runs per nine innings (2.00). All of this has resulted in a 4.00 ERA, good for 16th in the league.
For the relievers, it is even uglier. The Dodgers have a 5.59 ERA, 28th in MLB, from the bullpen, along with a 5.27 FIP, 28th as well.
The bullpen runs are coming from a low amount of ground balls and a ton of home runs allowed on their fly balls.
16.2% of their flyballs are resulting in home runs, a bottom-five metric in the league, while they allow 5.43 walks per nine innings, dead last in the league.
The pitching has been an overall letdown, leaving the Dodgers in search of quality pitching.
There is some bounce-back that should come from the bullpen, especially if some relievers bounce back and the Dodgers don’t need to deploy so many innings eaters as they get healthy.
Snell, at his best, is a true elite pitcher who can provide outstanding innings. Along with Tarik Skubal and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, those three would be a true stabilizing force, giving length and rest for the bullpen to get back on track.
