The Buffalo Bills have hired a new head coach in Joe Brady, the team’s offensive coordinator the last 2.5 seasons. Once co-owner Terry Pegula decided that time was up for McDermott due to an inability to get over the playoff hump, many wondered if that also spelled the end for defensive coordinator Bobby Babich and others on the defensive side of the ball. We know now that Babich will not part of Buffalo’s plans moving forward.

Babich will reportedly be hired as Packers’ defensive pass game coordinator/secondary, per reports by Tom Pelissero and others. Babich was a mainstay with former head coach Sean McDermott (who also worked with the senior Babich for years), and had been with One Bills Drive since the 2017 season, serving as defensive coordinator during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

Though many knew Babich for his time coaching linebackers with the Bills when Matt Milano became an All-Pro, he really cut his teeth as Buffalo’s safeties coach. In that role, Babich oversaw the safety tandem of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, who both developed into All-Pros. Hyde was named Second-Team All-Pro for the 2017 and 2021 NFL seasons, while Poyer was named First-Team All-Pro for the 2021 season.

Babich has an infectious personality and his coaching track record speaks volumes to his ability. In Green Bay, Babich gets a quick reset with Packers new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.
