The Celtics’ pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo may end before it starts, as Boston might not be interested in acquiring the 10-time All-Star.

Bill Simmons mentioned on his podcast that he believes Giannis Antetokounmpo is interested in playing for the Celtics, but Boston doesn't seem to have the same feeling.

"I think Giannis wants to go to Boston, and I'm not sure Boston wants Giannis," Simmons said Thursday on "The Bill Simmons Podcast". "That's the push-and-pull right now."

The Celtics must weigh the pros and cons of trading for Antetokounmpo, likely needing to part with Jaylen Brown. This could be a tough decision, especially since Antetokounmpo has struggled with injuries, playing just 36 games this season, and will turn 32 in December.

Boston may consider retaining Brown and Tatum for another year, given their limited time together this season. Brown emerged as the No. 1 option and improved his game while Tatum was out, and maybe the Celtics would like to see the new Brown and even new Tatum for a full season before making any big-time moves.

If the Celtics were to pursue and acquire Antetokounmpo, they would be going all-in. However, if Antetokounmpo struggles to stay healthy, they might end up wasting their present and future by giving up valuable draft picks and players.
